Canon Rangers

Canon Rangers was established in 2003 and is registered by OFSTED to care for 26 children aged 4-12 years. We are a registered charity and run by a voluntary committee. The Club is based in Jubilee Hall, Stoke Canon. The hall allows ample space to allow children to both relax and take part in stimulating, fun activities. The club also makes regular use of the village playing fields and Play Park as well as the play ground at Stoke Canon Church of England Primary School.

Our Philosophy

We aim to provide a safe, friendly and stimulating environment for the children in our care. A variety of activities are provided each session to suit all age groups and interests. The club acknowledges that at times children will need to relax and rest while at other times they will need to ‘let off steam'. The wide choice of activities on offer allows children to choose play activities based on their needs and mood.

Activities

Children have a wide range of activities to choose from these include:

Outdoor games, clay modelling, quiet area, reading, homework, listening to stories and tapes, construction kits, play station, educational computer games, painting and drawing, cooking, junk modelling and much more!

Along side the above, extra activities currently include:

Football Training on a Thursday evening with a coach from Exeter City Football Club and Tag Rugby and other outdoor games with an Active Sport coach on a Friday evening.

Staff

All permanent staff have been police checked and there is always a minimum of two staff on duty, at least one being a First-Aider. In line with OFSTED regulations we ensure we provide a staff ratio of 1 adult to 8 children. At least 50% of our staff are qualified to NVQ 3 level in Playwork and our staff attend regular training.
